Why work with me?

Not all coaches are built the same. In fact, the coaching industry is not legally regulated so anyone can technically call themselves a coach, regardless of training, skill, ability, or intention, and no one can stop them.

That’s why I take my training and my certification very seriously. Having a certification from the most prestigious coaching school in the world (Hudson Institute of Coaching) means you are automatically getting one of the most well-trained coaches in the world.

But training is only one piece of the equation. Working with me means you’re working with a professional who has committed their entire life to humans, human development, growth, change, and psychology. After being awarded the Rotary Club award for Psychology, I went on to receive my degree in Psychology followed by 14 years in corporate Learning & Development in the tech sector, where I designed programs, led teams, and coached individuals, all with the purpose of helping people grow and develop in their careers. Now, I’ve also got my Hudson Executive Coaching Certification to add to my expertise.

While some coaches out there may have come to coaching as a second career or as a skill to add to their resume, I’ve come to coaching as a deep life calling. Sitting in the coach’s chair, I am sitting in my life's purpose. My commitment to the craft is an integral part of my own identity. A coach does not need to be an expert in your field or your role in order to be an amazing coach for you -  a coach needs to be an expert in human behavior change, psychology, and personal development in order to be effective. And fortunately for you, that's exactly what I have spent my entire life developing my expertise in. Want more proof? Just ask my clients:

My time with Catalina is both clarifying and confidence boosting. She is the best f*ing listener I have ever worked with.
— Creative Director
Catalina is an amazing coach who works closely to understand your natural strengths and help you get closer to your goals by constantly pushing you to dig deeper and find the answer within. I can’t thank you enough for all the help!!

What is coaching worth to you?

No one is built to go at it alone but our individualistic culture has convinced us that you should be able to reach new heights without any help. This just isn’t true. We all need someone to hold up a mirror and help us see where we cannot yet see, so that we can grow and expand into a bigger and more self aware version of ourselves.

Coaching is an investment in yourself that will pay for itself as you reach your maximized potential and offer the best of you to your career and your life. How much is that worth to you? All the world’s best athletes have a coach — why shouldn’t you?

How do we work together?

Executive Coaching is a partnership between coach and client and the success in coaching will come directly from that trusting relationship. My role is to be curious, to challenge when appropriate, to reflect insights and observations, and most importantly, to ask powerful questions that will help you examine all aspects of your life, including your ideal state, your goals, and whats holding you back. Developmental coaching is a deep, whole-person approach to your life and career and it is grounded in trust and presence.

In my approach, we will work to identify where you are at your best and develop practical strategies to apply those gifts towards every challenge and opportunity you are faced with. As your coach, it is not my job to tell you what to do or to have the answers. In fact, if a coach presumes to know whats best for you, then run the other way! I believe in your agency and intuition: you already have all the answers, resources, and creativity within you and my role is to help you remove blockers and build clarity and self awareness so that you may intentionally act on your full potential.

Whats the difference between Coaching, Consulting, Mentoring, and Therapy?

*Coaching: Developmental, goal-focused, and centered around the individual and wisdom they already carry. Coaching is about helping you uncover the answers, not about giving you the answers. Functions as a partnership between two equals (coach and client) with the aim of helping the client grow and develop towards their goals.

*Consulting: Solving a specific problem, focused on an expert opinion, and centered around telling and giving answers rather than supporting development and growth.

*Mentorship: An experienced professional shares their experience in their career path with a less experienced individual in that same path (ie: Engineering manager mentors new engineering graduates).

*Therapy: Centered around mental health.
